Abstrak

This study aimed to determine whether the skills of teachers in classroom management can increase the motivation to learn Biology subject at class VII SMP Unismuh Makassar. This research was a classroom action research done in three cycles. This classroom action research aimed to look at changes in the level of motivation to learn subjects Biology class VII SMP Unismuh Makassar, and changes in behavior of students in the three cycles of learning by applying classroom management skills. The sample in this study was students of class VII A junior Unismuh Makassar. Data collection on the level of student motivation by using a questionnaire with yes or no choice criteria. While the data on changes in student behavior is done by using the format of the students observation. Data analysis was done in two ways, namely by means of quantitative and qualitative. Quantitatively using descriptive statistical analysis techniques that cover the tables, frequency, average, percentage, variance and standard deviation. While qualitatively by describing the changes in behavior of students during the learning process. Results of the study in the first cycle shows that the average level of student motivation is 16 or 64% of the ideal score is a score of 25, the second cycle an average of 19 or 76% of the ideal score, and the third cycle an average score of 20 or 80 % of the ideal score. In terms of student learning behavior changes in a positive direction, it indicates that gives great hope that teachers are more motivated to manage the class that it faces.
